Rail, Sky and River Journey

Day 1

• Rail Cart down the Forgotten World Railway to the Republic of Whangamomona, more than 80km of total immersion into the true stories and tall tales woven into this unique landscape.
• Stay the night in the Republic, includes dinner and cooked breakfast.

Day 2

• Starts with a relaxed breakfast. Then a helicopter will take you on a scenic flight over the Whanganui National Park, and the Bridge to Somewhere to meet the jet boat on the Whanganui River.
• Walk to the Bridge to Nowhere (40 min) and spend a couple of hours travelling the Whanganui River by jet boat, exploring the historical sites and scenery, arriving in Pipiriki by mid afternoon.
• From Pipiriki, you will be collected by shuttle to travel the scenic River Road, passing though Jerusalem en route to Whanganui.
• Morning, afternoon tea and lunch all included.

Day 3

• Head back to New Plymouth stopping at Hollard Gardens, Dawson’s Falls (Mt Taranaki), Tawhiti Museum and/or the Fun Ho Toy Museum in Inglewood.

• Drive into Whanganui for dinner at Stellar

Day 4

• Own breakfast or local cafe
• Bason Botanic Gardens
• Walk on Mowhanau Beach
• Lunch and walk at Bushy Park
• Visit Windermere Gardens for berries and ice cream
• Walk around Virginia Lake
• Dinner at The Brickhouse

Day 5

• Own breakfast or local cafe
• Sarjeant Art Gallery/Sarjeant on the Quay
• Chronicle glass studio and factory
• Lunch at Element cafe
• Whanganui guided walking tour
• View Royal Opera House, Whanganui Collegiate School, Traders Market
• McNamara Gallery
• Dinner – your own choice

Day 6

• Own breakfast or local cafe
• Enjoy a Whanganui Scenic Experience

Day 7

• Travel home
